Privacy and Data Use
OpenClaim is being built to help people identify possible unclaimed property matches and route them to official state claim processes.
Information users may provide
If you join the early access list, OpenClaim may collect your email address, optional state information, and your search intent (personal, family, business, or organization) so we can notify you when OpenClaim becomes available.
As the product develops, OpenClaim may allow users to save search details such as names, prior names, locations, household connections, searched states, and possible matches to help create a more complete search plan.
For business or organization searches, OpenClaim may collect business names, former names, DBAs, prior addresses, states of operation, and related entity names provided by the user. OpenClaim does not request tax IDs, bank information, claim documents, or authorization to act on behalf of the organization.
Information users should not provide
Users should not enter or send Social Security numbers, bank account information, government IDs, claim documents, or sensitive identity documents.
OpenClaim does not ask for those items on the early access website.
State data access
For state data access, OpenClaim requests only publicly releasable unclaimed property fields from official or approved sources.
OpenClaim does not scrape state portals, bypass access controls, or use unofficial people-search data as source data.
Official claim process
OpenClaim does not file claims, represent claimants, or charge recovery fees. Claim decisions and claim processing are handled by the applicable state agency.
